Aluminis (like all canned drinks) use an EU approved, food grade BPA-free internal liner (plastic based) to prevent any risk of corrosion from liquid contacting metal.
We recommend a 2-year shelf life, and the liner burns off during recycling so doesn't affect recyclability.
Aluminis are 99% - but not 100% - plastic free. Not perfect but, given the need to reduce single use plastic use, a big improvement on using plastic PET bottles.
There is no plastic free 5cl bottle solution available today. Glass 5cl bottles use either plastic caps or metal caps with the same internal liner to prevent any risk of corrosion.
